EVA MALSCHAERT
After finishing my Bachelor in Furniture/Interior Design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (Holland) I moved to London to follow up with a master in Textile design at the Royal College of Art.
Studying Textiles opened my eyes to the potential of this discipline. Textiles as a subject can reach in many directions, it is a broad ranging discipline based on material exploration, colour and tactile experience.
By using these tactile qualities I want to appeal people to touch and trigger an emotional, intuitive response; to create moments of physical contact with the objects we use, with the space we live in and with the people around us.
I strongly believe that there is demand for more physical tactile experience, and textiles can provide an answer to this need. I’m passionate to create a greater awareness of the physicality of textiles in the daily consciousness and to connect the subject with different design fields; (Interior) Architecture, Product Design but also Film, Photography, Animation and Sound.
