EVA MALSCHAERT
EMBRACED
With the collection ‘Embraced’ I researched the spatial layers around the human body, and
looked for the overlaps between cloth and furniture, between sitting and wearing.
A flat pattern made out of felt is stitched together into a three-dimensional form, like a jacket or a jumper. By making the stitch lines hard with a
(ecological) resin the soft form becomes rigid in places.
Form, construction and cover fuse together in a single piece of furniture and throughout the
collection.
